Visita Iglesia 2008

September 7-November 2, 2008

The CCR Youth Communities in Lawa-an took its First Visita Iglesia for Nine Consecutive Sundays to Nine Different churches in Cebu City, Talisay City, Naga City, Minglanilla and San Fernando from September 7 - November 2, 2008.
The Visita Iglesia (or Visit of the Churches) is a practice of solemn, full of prayers of adoration before the exposed Blessed Sacrament and humility before the cross of Jesus after attending the Mass. And by going to the right churches, we can do two things at the same time: offer a solemn prayer and immersion of culture kept alive within church walls. Moreover,it is purposely organized not only for the intention of ‘touring around’, or solely for wishing for something. Instead of attending mass to our neighboring churches every Sunday, we offer sacrifices to visit other Churches for the mission of the following: profound commemoration of the Last Supper, Christ’s passion and death: renewal of faith to Christ’s victory over sin on the day of resurrection; pray for world peace, our holy father, the hopeless, the sick and the needy; spiritual conversion and growth; personal and family intentions; and to strengthen our youth community
Day 1 (Sept. 7) - Archdiocesan Shrine of our Lady of Lourdes at Punta Princesa, Cebu City.  The pilgrimage started with the celebration of the Holy Mass at 4:30pm. After the Plenary Indulgence Prayer, we have a chance to take a walking tour at the flowing water of Lourdes, different relics of the Church, the Grotto and the Adoration Chapel. There, we prayed and meditated our main purpose of having a Visita Iglesia. We had our short rest at McDonalds where we discussed our learning experiences. This day also coincides the birth celebration of our very own Stevenson.

Day 2 (Sept. 14) - Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parish El Pardo, Cebu City. After the Holy Mass at 3:00pm and Praying the Holy Rosary at the Blessed Sacrament we visited the Grottos of Birhen sa Barangay and Our Lady of Fatima for supplications and story telling. The Parish also celebrates their 2nd day Novena Mass for the feast of St. Thomas of Villanova on September 22 (Monday)
Day 3 (Sept. 21) - Sta. Teresa de Avila Parish Poblacion, Talisay City. Supposed to be our schedule is at Cansojong but we are not reminded about the Mass Schedule so we proceed to Poblacion Parish just a minute away. We attended the 5:30pm Holy Mass. We also kissed the relics inside the Church and proceeded to the Blessed Sacrament for prayers and contemplation.

Naka Y.E. naka? at ANPH  Seminary

                                                                      April 2, 2008

The Blessed Pedro Calungsod Community in continuing their mission to unify the youth in bringing closer to Jesus organizes the 1st Youth Encounter and Recollection at Augustinian Novitiate and Prayer House as part of its feast day celebration of their patron saint with the theme Youth Encountering with Christ and Blessed Pedro Calungsod. The preparation was a meaningful and unforgettable experience for the working committees, Fund Raising Activity for the venue, speakers and snacks etc. and distributing flyers and inviting the youths to attend the said event.
The program started at 2:00pm. The speakers were all seminarians from the Order of Saint Augustine. Bro. Eric Fullerton started the First Topic about the Importance of Celebrating Easter Sunday and Holy Mass. He said that Sunday is the Sabbath Day and not Saturday because this is the day that Jesus defeated death and sin and the day of victory. Jesus proves that He is God descended from Heaven. On the other hand, Bro. Joseph Lazarte shared His experiences before and after studying the seminary and His advice for youths to continue their commitments and service to God and continue what we have started by offering sacrifices and giving back to God what He has given unto us. The last speaker is Bro. Norman Villafuerte  who before discussing the life of Bl. Pedro Calungsod and the Modern Youth gives us an activity related to personal realizations. First is Breaking and Assemble a Pot. We have realized that no matter how many times we break the commandments or we sinned  but still we have the chance to assemble and start a new life and before making decisions in life we must think of the consequences and outcomes that comes ahead. The second activity was To Write Something On The Positive and Negative Side Of Others. We have realized that we need to improve our weakness and continue our strengths. The last activity is the Recollection Moment wherein we able to meditate and realize Jesus' unconditional love, even if we have contributed the thorns and scourging of Jesus by committing sins. We reflected Jesus' image during His crucifixion. This time we able to share our guilt and wounded heart to some of the members we had hurt. The YE ended at 6:30pm with the awarding of Certificate of Recognition to Resource Speakers presented by the YE Chairman Dondon Torres and to the Recipient of Bl. Pedro Calungsod  Awardee to Klaudette An Lingao-lingao (With Highest Honors), Stevenson Empuerto (With High Honors) and Mary Rose Bago (With Honors) and the rest of the Working Committees: Emmanuel Obeso, Camille Inah Angeli del Rosario and Jayson Sayaw. 11th Vocation Jamboree at CICC

February 23-24, 2008

Thousands of teenagers gathered at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) for the 11th Vocation Jamboree 2008 an overnight activity which ends from 3:00pm to 6:00am with the theme "One Way Jesus". Fr. Randy Figuracion of the Salesian of Don Bosco said they expected around 10,000 delegates from at least 140 parishes under the Archdiocese of Cebu, different schools and university, students and young professionals. This, he said, will be an improvement from the 6,000 who joined last year.  USC, USJ-R, SWU, CNU, CIT, CSCST, CDU, Velez, Don Bosco, SHS-J, CIC, STC, UP, SciHigh, different seminaries and schools in Cebu City and Province participated. He said the number of participants was overwhelming, and raised the hope of the more than 80 different religious congregations, that set up tents at the CICC in a bid to encourage the youth to join them. He added that there is less interest in the consecrated life nowadays, and called it a “crisis of vocation.” “It is a phenomenon all over the world, especially in western countries. It could be because of materialism, loss of value, drugs and others,” he said. And the predominantly Christian Philippines is not spared, which he said could be because of western influence.
Dondon and Yangyong were one of the Facilitators and Klaudette, Camille, Lowelah and Mary Rose together with other TCYM were one of the Delegates from CCR Lawa-an Youth. We first assembled at Talisay City Hall Grounds for a Van sponsored by Hon. Soc Fernandez through the effort of Lowelah and Klaudette.
After our arrival and registration at CICC, we tour all different congregation booths reading and hearing their apostolate. We understood more of their congregation through their brochures and giveaways. The program proper started after our Dinner. Doxology, Message from the Organizers and Vocation Director, Welcome of Guests, Delegates from different Congregations and Participants from different schools, parishes, youth groups and companies, Praise and Worship Songs.

The speakers reflection from the gospel stressed out the parabolic interpretation which is about the Parable of the Good Seed, the sower refers to whoever broadcasts the word of God, the seed pertains to the word of God and the various places where the seed falls is the various hearers of the word of God. The wayside is those who simply don't understand and therefore can't believe the word. The stony places with shallow earth is the hearts of people without firm conviction or superficial believers, the heat of the sun is the persecutions, troubles and incovneniences suffered by those who have taken in the word, the withering is the weaking of the effect of the word and the bringing forth no fruit is the failure on the part of the person. The places among thorns is the people subject to temptation, the thorns is the riches of the world and the choking out the seedling is distracting the person's attention. Finally the good ground is those who are properly receptive to God's word, the fruit is the being the kind of person.
At 10:00pm, the delegates divided into groups for short sharing from the guideline questions, Yangyong facilitates Group No.32 whereas Dondon is in Group No.81 During our sharing, not only we come to get to know with one another from other youths but we have shared our vocation life from past to the future. General Reflection, Stations of the Cross and Audio Video Clips from the movie Passion of the Christ were presented to know more deeper about Jesus: His goodness and His compassion. Confession followed afterwards. At 1:30pm, Christian Songs and Dance Concert were presented from different schools and parishes in Cebu. At 4:00am, the Holy Rosary were recited in Honor to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The culminating activity was the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided by His Eminence Ricardo J. Cardinal Vidal, DD, Archbishop of Cebu with over 25 priest co-celebrants.
As we go home while commuting, we have discussed our meaninful learnings and experiences. In conlusion, we the participants have not made up our minds yet about our future. However we said that priesthood may not be for us as of now. “Being a priest or a nun is a difficult yet challenging task it needs a big responsibility, it is definitely a calling."
